Hello dear Carrera friends,

Please help me, I'm driving nuts.

I have an original Carrera Racing Management (Main Unit and a PC Unit).
I installed the software (Winrace 1.0) which comes with the Carrera Racing Management PC Unit. But I can not get it communicating with the Main Unit.

Sometimes I receive the message from Winrace "Es konnte keine Verbindungzum Interface hergestellt werden" and other times the software Winrace locks up !!!

I have tried in Programmeinstellungen both COM 1 and COM 2.
Both com ports on the PC are working, I've tried other serial devices.
I also have tried another PC. Both PC's do use Windows XP.
I have changed the PC Unit with my reseller, both also this second cable does not work.

What is wrong ? Do I have to configure the Main Unit (nothing in the manual about this) ?
Is there an update for Winrace 1.0 ?

The Carrera Racing Management Main Unit is v2.00
I'm using the original AC adapter which came with my Carrera Mille Miglia 2 set.

Oh dear, when does he get an answer? Unfortunately I don't have a RMS, so I can't answer. Where are the experts?

I had the same problems...

Maybe an other divece is useing your com port!!!

In my case... it was the IR-Module of the Laptop... or the connection software of my PDA!!!

so look in your autostart folder... maybee there is something that is using the com port...

I have no clue what your problem is...
maybe your main unit is not ok!!

I tried my main unit on 5 differnet pc and laptops... and had only problems with already used com ports...

there is no new softwarerelease at the moment... but actually there will be an updatethe next months... with a lot of changes...

but i don't think that this will help you... because there must be something wrong with your unit!!!

try to change the mainunit at your lokal dealer... or maybe you could check your unit with the unit of an other mainunit customer!?!?!?

Thank you for all your good advice !
With much LUCK I was able to solve the problem.

The problem lies in the connector for Trafo 2 from the RMS Main Unit.

This is a female connector and these holes are a little bit to BIG !!!

Therfore the connector which comes from the original Carrera Evolution / Exclusiv AC adapter does not make a good connection. The connector fits but is a little bit too lose !!!
In my case, if I connect both connectors as it should be done than : Both slots have electricity (you can drive with both slotcars) but are not able to make a connection from RMS Main Unit - PC Unit to the PC.
If I push the connector (from the AC adapter) connected to the female connector on TRAFO 2 of the RMS Main Unit ONLY then I'm able to get it working !
I changed both connector's (not the + and the -) and still connector 2 at teh RMS Main Unit is too lose. Therfore I can make the conclusion that the holes of the female connector of the RMS Main Unit is a little bit to big.

I hope that this conclusion will help others in the near future.

To be honest, the support from Carrera is NOT what I had expected. I'm also still waiting for my welcome gift when I joined the Carrera Club. But mail can be slow

I hope that a next version of Winrace will also support the English language
